Software Engineer

Role overview

Cisco’s engineering teams build the networking, security, collaboration and cloud platforms that keep organisations connected. As a software engineer you work with experienced engineers to design, build and test software, troubleshoot real customer problems and grow across a broad technology stack.

What you'll do

• Design, develop and test software that meets product and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in peer code reviews.
• Diagnose and resolve defects across development and production environments.
• Contribute to technical documentation and engineering best practices.
• Keep pace with new tools, platforms and ways of working.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, C/C++, Go or JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and operating systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice to have

• Internship or project experience building software at scale.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD or automation.
• Familiarity with version control and Agile delivery.
• Curiosity about networking, security or collaboration technology.
